Connect a self-hosted WordPress website to Blubrry Podcast Hosting and complete the initial podcast setup in PowerPress.
Use these instructions if you already have a WordPress website and want to publish your podcast from that website using PowerPress.
Before you begin
You will need:
- An administrator account for your self-hosted WordPress website
- The full URL of your WordPress website
- PowerPress installed and activated
- Access to your Blubrry account
If PowerPress is not installed, follow [Install the Blubrry PowerPress Plugin for WordPress] before continuing.
These instructions are for setting up a new podcast. To bring an existing podcast into PowerPress, follow [Import an Existing Podcast into PowerPress].
Add a show and select hosting
If your Blubrry account does not have a show:
- Sign in to your Blubrry account.
- Select the Add A Show card on the dashboard or Add New Show from the left menu.
- Under Podcast Hosting, select Get Hosting.
- Choose a hosting plan and complete checkout.
After checkout, select Start Setup on the confirmation page. If you do not select the button, the page should redirect you to setup automatically.
Choose PowerPress for WordPress
On the Get Your Podcast Set Up page:
- Select PowerPress Plugin for WordPress.
- Select Next.
Add your WordPress website
Enter the full address of your WordPress website in WordPress Website URL.
Include
https://at the beginning of the address.- Select Check Site.
- Wait while Blubrry checks the website.
When the check finishes, Blubrry displays the website it detected and asks how you want to use Blubrry hosting.
Select PowerPress as your publishing method
Choose:
Yes, I want to podcast from my website using WordPress/PowerPress.
Do not select the Blubrry Publisher option if you intend to create and publish podcast episodes from WordPress.
Select Next.
Open PowerPress
The confirmation page indicates that the initial Blubrry setup is complete.
Before continuing, sign in to the WordPress administrator dashboard in another browser tab. This helps ensure that Open PowerPress takes you directly to the correct PowerPress setup page.
Return to the Blubrry confirmation page and select Open PowerPress.
If you are already signed in, WordPress should open the PowerPress Get Started page.
If WordPress asks you to sign in:
- Enter your WordPress administrator credentials.
- After signing in, go to PowerPress > Get Started.
Create your podcast in PowerPress
On the PowerPress Get Started page, select Create Podcast.
Do not select Import RSS Feed when setting up a new podcast. That option is for bringing an existing podcast into PowerPress.
Enter your podcast information
Complete the Create your Podcast screen.
Podcaster information
Enter:
- Name: The name of the podcast host, creator, organization, or brand
- Email: The administrative contact email address for the podcast
Podcast information
Enter:
- Show Name: The name listeners will see in podcast apps
- Show Description: A summary of the podcast
- Category: The category that best describes the show
- Explicit Content: Select Yes or No
Podcast artwork
If you already have podcast artwork:
- Select Yes.
- Select Upload Artwork.
- Choose the artwork file.
The artwork must:
- Be at least 1400 × 1400 pixels
- Use the JPG or PNG format
- Use the RGB color space
If you do not have artwork, select No. You can finish setting up the podcast without it, but valid artwork is required before submitting the show to podcast directories such as Apple Podcasts.
Finish the initial setup
Review the information and select Continue.
PowerPress opens its Welcome tab. Your initial podcast setup is now complete.
Use the other PowerPress tabs to review and configure additional feed and publishing settings before publishing your first episode or submitting the podcast to directories.
