Move your existing podcast from Libsyn to Blubrry without creating a new listing or asking current subscribers to resubscribe.
The process has three main parts:
- Import your podcast into Blubrry.
- Confirm that the new feed and media work correctly.
- Redirect your Libsyn feed to the new feed.
Do not cancel your Libsyn service or add a redirect until you have completed the import and verified the new podcast feed.
Before you begin
You will need:
- Access to your Libsyn account
- Your current Libsyn RSS feed URL
- An active Blubrry Podcast Hosting plan
- The RSS feed URL you will use after the move
Import your podcast
Follow the instructions for your Blubrry publishing method:
- To publish from the Blubrry dashboard, follow Move Your Podcast to Blubrry Publisher.
- To publish from WordPress, follow [Import an Existing Podcast into PowerPress].
Complete the entire import process before adding a redirect in Libsyn.
Check your new podcast feed
Before redirecting the Libsyn feed:
- Open your new podcast feed in a browser.
- Confirm that the podcast title, description, artwork, and other show information are correct.
- Confirm that the expected episodes appear.
- Play several older and newer episodes.
- Make sure the episode media files are being delivered from the correct location.
Correct any problems before continuing.
Redirect your Libsyn feed
A permanent feed redirect tells podcast apps and subscribers that your podcast has moved to a new RSS feed.
To add the redirect:
- Sign in to your Libsyn account.
- Open the show you are moving.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Redirects.
- Enter your new Blubrry Publisher or PowerPress RSS feed URL in the RSS feed redirect field.
- Select Save.
- Confirm the change when prompted.
Libsyn’s current redirect instructions are available in Configuring 301 Redirects and New Feed URL Tags on Your Libsyn Show.
Confirm the redirect
After saving the redirect:
- Open your old Libsyn RSS feed URL in a browser.
- Confirm that it automatically opens or redirects to your new feed URL.
- Check your show in major podcast apps.
- Confirm that the show information and episodes still appear correctly.
- Play several episodes to make sure the media files work.
Podcast apps may require time to recognize the feed change.
Do not submit the new feed as a new podcast if the show is already available in podcast directories. Submitting it again may create duplicate listings.
Before closing your Libsyn account
Do not close your Libsyn account until:
- The podcast has been imported successfully
- The new feed contains the correct show information and episodes
- The old Libsyn feed redirects to the new feed
- The show continues to update and play correctly in podcast apps
Libsyn states that its feed redirect remains active after a hosting account is closed. Confirm the current policy with Libsyn before canceling your service.
