Create a new podcast with a Blubrry-managed WordPress website and complete its initial setup in PowerPress.
Blubrry manages the website hosting and installs PowerPress for you. You will publish and manage the podcast from your WordPress dashboard.
Before you begin
During setup, you will choose:
- A title for your WordPress website
- A permanent
blubrry.netwebsite address - A WordPress administrator username and password
- Your podcast name, description, category, and content rating
- Whether to upload podcast artwork
Your website address cannot be changed after the site is created, so choose it carefully.
Add a show and select hosting
If your Blubrry account does not have a show:
- Sign in to your Blubrry account.
- Select the Add A Show card on the dashboard or Add New Show from the left menu.
- Under Podcast Hosting, select Get Hosting.
- Choose a hosting plan and complete checkout.
After checkout, select Start Setup on the confirmation page. If you do not select the button, the page should redirect you to setup automatically.
Choose a Blubrry WordPress website
On the Get Your Podcast Set Up page:
- Select Free Blubrry WordPress Website.
- Select Next.
Create your WordPress website
Enter the following information:
- Website Title: The name displayed on your website
- Website URL: The unique address that appears before
.blubrry.net - WordPress Admin Username: The username you will use to sign in to WordPress
- Password: Allow Blubrry to generate a secure password or create your own
The website URL cannot be changed after the site is created. It may contain letters, numbers, and hyphens.
Select Create WordPress Site.
Creating the site may take several minutes. Remain on the page and do not refresh it while the progress bar is displayed.
Save your WordPress credentials
When the website is ready, Blubrry displays:
- Your website URL
- Your WordPress sign-in URL
- Your WordPress administrator username
- Your WordPress password
Save this information in a secure password manager or another secure location.
You can also select Export Credentials to download a CSV file containing the information.
Select Next after saving your credentials.
Choose whether to use a custom domain
Customers with an eligible Advanced or Pro hosting plan can connect a custom domain during setup.
To configure one, follow [Connect a Custom Domain to Your Blubrry WordPress Website].
If you do not have an eligible plan or want to configure the domain later, select Continue Without Custom Domain.
Continue to PowerPress
The Success page confirms that the website has been created.
- Select Finish Setup in PowerPress.
- Sign in to the new WordPress website using the credentials you saved earlier.
- On the PowerPress Get Started screen, select Create Podcast.
Do not select Import RSS Feed when setting up a new podcast. That option is for bringing an existing podcast into PowerPress.
Enter your podcast information
Complete the Create your Podcast screen.
Podcaster information
Enter:
- Name: The name of the podcast host, creator, organization, or brand
- Email: The administrative contact email address for the podcast
Podcast information
Enter:
- Show Name: The name listeners will see in podcast apps
- Show Description: A summary of the podcast
- Category: The category that best describes the show
- Explicit Content: Select Yes or No
Podcast artwork
If you already have podcast artwork:
- Select Yes.
- Select Upload Artwork.
- Choose the artwork file.
The artwork must:
- Be at least 1400 × 1400 pixels
- Use the JPG or PNG format
- Use the RGB color space
If you do not have artwork, select No. You can finish setting up the podcast without it, but valid artwork is required before submitting the show to podcast directories such as Apple Podcasts.
Finish the initial setup
Review the information and select Continue.
PowerPress opens its Welcome tab. Your initial podcast and WordPress website setup is now complete.
You can use the other PowerPress tabs to review and configure additional settings before publishing and submitting the podcast to directories.
