Use PowerPress’s media migration tool to copy existing podcast files to your Blubrry hosting account and update your WordPress episodes with their new Blubrry media URLs.
This process is for podcasts that are already published from WordPress using PowerPress. It moves the episode media files but does not move your WordPress website, posts, podcast feed, or PowerPress settings.
If you need to bring an existing podcast and its episodes into PowerPress, follow [Import an Existing Podcast into PowerPress] instead.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- An active Blubrry Podcast Hosting plan
- A WordPress website with PowerPress installed and activated
- PowerPress connected to your Blubrry account
- A current backup of your WordPress website
Do not cancel your current media hosting service until the migration is complete and you have confirmed that your episodes play correctly.
Request the media migration
- Sign in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to PowerPress > Migrate Media.
- Under Step 1, select Select Media to Migrate.
- Choose the media files you want to move.
- Select Request Migration.
PowerPress will begin copying the selected media files to your Blubrry hosting account.
Check the migration
The time required depends on the number and size of your media files.
Return to PowerPress > Migrate Media and check Step 2 to view the migration’s progress. You may need to refresh the page periodically.
If PowerPress cannot migrate a file, the migration results will display information about the error. Resolve any reported errors before updating the affected episodes.
Update your episodes
After the media files have been copied:
- Go to PowerPress > Migrate Media.
- Review the migration results.
- Under Step 3, select Update Your Episodes.
- Allow PowerPress to replace the previous media URLs in your WordPress episodes with the new Blubrry media URLs.
This changes where the episode files are hosted. Your website, WordPress posts, and podcast RSS feed remain in place.
Confirm the migration
After updating your episodes:
- Open several published episodes on your website.
- Confirm that each episode plays correctly.
- Check your podcast RSS feed and confirm that the episode media URLs point to Blubrry.
- Check your show in one or more podcast apps.
- Play several older and newer episodes to make sure their media files work.
Do not cancel your previous media hosting service until you have confirmed that the migrated files work correctly on your website, in your podcast feed, and in podcast apps.
Publish future episodes
Continue creating and publishing episodes from WordPress with PowerPress. When PowerPress is connected to your Blubrry hosting account, you can upload new episode files to Blubrry as part of your normal publishing workflow.
