Move your existing podcast from RSS.com to Blubrry without creating a new directory listing or asking current subscribers to resubscribe.
The process has three main parts:
- Import your podcast into Blubrry.
- Confirm that the new feed and episodes work correctly.
- Redirect your RSS.com feed to the new feed.
Do not cancel your RSS.com subscription before creating the redirect. RSS.com does not provide its redirect service after a subscription has been canceled.
Before you begin
You will need:
- Access to your RSS.com account
- Your current RSS.com feed URL
- An active Blubrry Podcast Hosting plan
- The new RSS feed URL you will use after the move
- An active paid RSS.com subscription
RSS.com does not provide feed redirects for free-trial accounts.
If you want to retain your RSS.com statistics or other account information, download or record it before moving. Historical statistics do not transfer between hosting providers.
Import your podcast
Follow the instructions for your Blubrry publishing method:
- To publish from the Blubrry dashboard, follow [Move Your Podcast to Blubrry Publisher].
- To publish from WordPress, follow [Import an Existing Podcast into PowerPress].
Complete the entire import process before adding a redirect in RSS.com.
Check your new podcast feed
Before redirecting the RSS.com feed:
- Open your new podcast feed in a browser.
- Confirm that the podcast title, description, artwork, and other show information are correct.
- Confirm that the expected episodes appear.
- Play several older and newer episodes.
- Make sure the episode media files are being delivered from the correct location.
Correct any problems before continuing.
Disable Copy Protection
RSS.com requires Copy Protection to be disabled before a feed can be redirected.
- Sign in to your RSS.com dashboard.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll to Copy Protection.
- Disable the feature if it is active.
Redirect your RSS.com feed
A permanent feed redirect tells podcast apps and subscribers that your podcast has moved to a new RSS feed.
To add the redirect:
- Remain on the Settings page.
- Find the Redirect section.
- Select Activate.
- Enter your new Blubrry Publisher or PowerPress RSS feed URL.
- Select Redirect to confirm the change.
The redirect should begin working immediately. Creating the redirect does not automatically cancel your RSS.com subscription.
RSS.com’s current instructions are available in How do I redirect my podcast feed to a different hosting provider?.
Confirm the redirect
After adding the redirect:
- Open your old RSS.com feed URL in a browser.
- Confirm that it redirects to your new feed URL.
- Check your show in major podcast apps.
- Confirm that the show information and episodes still appear correctly.
- Play several episodes to make sure the media files work.
Podcast apps may require time to recognize the feed change.
Do not submit the new feed as a separate podcast if your show is already available in podcast directories. Submitting it again may create duplicate listings.
Before canceling RSS.com
RSS.com recommends keeping the old subscription and redirect active for 45–90 days so podcast apps and subscribers have time to update.
Do not cancel the subscription until:
- The podcast has been imported successfully
- The new feed contains the correct show information and episodes
- The old RSS.com feed redirects to the new feed
- The show continues to update and play correctly in podcast apps
- The recommended forwarding period has passed
Remember to cancel the RSS.com subscription after the forwarding period if you no longer need it. Adding the redirect does not cancel billing automatically.
