Move your existing podcast from Acast to Blubrry without creating a new directory listing or asking current subscribers to resubscribe.
The process has three main parts:
- Prepare and import your podcast into Blubrry.
- Confirm that the new feed and episodes work correctly.
- Redirect your Acast feed to the new feed.
Do not add the redirect, cancel your subscription, or delete your Acast account until you have completed the import and verified your new podcast feed.
Before you begin
You will need:
- Access to your Acast account
- Your current Acast RSS feed URL
- An active Blubrry Podcast Hosting plan
- The new RSS feed URL you will use after the move
Save your Acast data
Podcast statistics and revenue information do not transfer between hosting providers. Export any listening and revenue reports you want to retain before adding the redirect.
Once the redirect is active, you may lose access to some of this information.
Prepare dynamically inserted content
If your podcast uses Acast ads or other dynamically inserted content, contact Acast before importing your podcast.
Ask Acast to disable the dynamic ads so Blubrry can import an ad-free version of each episode. Importing before the ads are removed may cause the inserted advertisements to become part of the migrated episode files.
Import your podcast
Follow the instructions for your Blubrry publishing method:
- To publish from the Blubrry dashboard, follow [Move Your Podcast to Blubrry Publisher].
- To publish from WordPress, follow [Import an Existing Podcast into PowerPress].
Complete the entire import process before adding a redirect in Acast.
Check your new podcast feed
Before redirecting the Acast feed:
- Open your new podcast feed in a browser.
- Confirm that the podcast title, description, artwork, and other show information are correct.
- Confirm that the expected episodes appear.
- Play several older and newer episodes.
- Make sure the episode media files are being delivered from the correct location.
- Confirm that unwanted dynamically inserted Acast ads are not included in the migrated files.
Correct any problems before continuing.
Redirect your Acast feed
A permanent feed redirect tells podcast apps and subscribers that your podcast has moved to a new RSS feed.
To add the redirect:
- Sign in to your Acast account.
- Select the show you are moving.
- Go to Show Settings > Show redirection.
- Select I have prepared my show for import and redirection.
- Enter your new Blubrry Publisher or PowerPress RSS feed URL.
- Select Save.
Creating the redirect does not automatically cancel your Acast subscription or delete your account. After the redirect is active, publish all new episodes from Blubrry.
Acast’s current instructions are available in How to redirect your podcast, cancel your subscription or delete your account.
Confirm the redirect
After saving the redirect:
- Open your old Acast RSS feed URL in a browser.
- Confirm that it redirects to your new feed URL.
- Check your show in major podcast apps.
- Confirm that the show information and episodes still appear correctly.
- Play several episodes to make sure the media files work.
Podcast apps may require time to recognize the feed change.
Do not submit the new feed as a separate podcast if your show is already available in podcast directories. Submitting it again may create duplicate listings.
Cancel or delete your Acast account
Acast recommends waiting at least two weeks after creating the redirect before requesting account deletion.
Do not cancel or delete the account until:
- The podcast has been imported successfully
- The new feed contains the correct show information and episodes
- The old Acast feed redirects to the new feed
- The show continues to update and play correctly in podcast apps
- At least two weeks have passed since the redirect was added
Canceling an Acast subscription and deleting an Acast account are separate actions. Deleting the account removes the podcast audio and account data Acast hosts. Review Acast’s current instructions carefully before completing either action.
