Moving your podcast to Blubrry Publisher allows you to manage and publish episodes directly through Blubrry without using WordPress.
If your podcast is currently hosted elsewhere, you can import your existing episodes, media files, and podcast information using your RSS feed.
Before getting started, you'll need an active Blubrry Podcast Hosting account. If you don't have one, you can explore our hosting plans.
Step 1: Set Up Your Podcast
- Log in to your Blubrry Podcaster Dashboard.
- Click Add New Show and select Podcast Hosting.
- Follow the instructions to set up your podcast.
- Once your podcast is created, navigate to Show > Move Media.
Step 2: Import Your Existing Episodes
- Locate your podcast's RSS feed URL from your current hosting provider.
- Enter the RSS feed URL in the field provided.
- Click Next to begin the migration process.
Blubrry will use your existing RSS feed to import your episodes and podcast information into Blubrry Publisher. Your existing media files will also be transferred to Blubrry Hosting.
Important: Blubrry can only import episodes that appear in your existing RSS feed. Before starting the migration, we recommend adjusting your current hosting provider's RSS feed settings to include all your published episodes.
The migration process may take several hours, depending on the number of episodes being imported. You can leave the page while the migration runs.
Once the migration is complete, you'll receive a notification in your Podcaster Dashboard.
Step 3: Review Your Imported Episodes
Before switching your podcast feed to Blubrry, make sure your episodes and podcast information were imported correctly.
- Navigate to Episodes > Manage Episodes.
- Review your episode list to confirm that your existing episodes were imported.
- Check that your episode titles, descriptions, and media files are correct.
What if some episodes are missing?
Blubrry can only import episodes included in your existing RSS feed. Some hosting providers limit how many episodes are displayed in the feed, even if you've published more.
If episodes are missing:
- Log in to your previous podcast hosting account.
- Find the setting that controls how many episodes appear in your RSS feed.
- Increase that number to include all your published episodes.
- Return to Show > Move Media in Blubrry and restart the migration.
Note: Restarting the migration will not create duplicate episodes. You can safely run it again to import episodes that were previously missing.
Step 4: Review Your Podcast Settings
Once your episodes have been imported, navigate to Show > Manage.
Review your podcast information, including:
- Podcast title and description
- Podcast cover artwork
- Author and contact information
- Podcast categories
- Other podcast settings and metadata
Update any missing or incorrect information before proceeding.
Your new Blubrry Publisher RSS feed is automatically generated and can be found under Show > Manage in the Podcast Feed URL section.
Step 5: Redirect Your Podcast RSS Feed
Once you've confirmed that your episodes and podcast information have been successfully imported, you'll need to redirect your existing RSS feed to Blubrry.
A 301 redirect tells podcast directories and apps that your podcast has moved to a new RSS feed address. This allows existing subscribers to continue receiving episodes without needing to subscribe again.
To redirect your feed:
- In Blubrry, navigate to Show > Manage.
- Locate the Podcast Feed URL section and copy your new Blubrry RSS feed URL.
- Log in to your previous podcast hosting provider.
- Find their RSS feed redirect or podcast migration settings.
- Set up a permanent 301 redirect from your old RSS feed to your new Blubrry RSS feed.
If your previous hosting provider doesn't offer a self-service redirect option, contact their support team for assistance.
Podcast directories may take 24–48 hours or longer to recognize the redirect and update their records.
Important: Before canceling your previous hosting service, contact that provider to confirm how long they'll maintain your RSS feed redirect. Redirect policies vary between hosting providers, and keeping the redirect active helps ensure existing subscribers can continue receiving your episodes.
Step 6: Start Publishing with Blubrry
Once your RSS feed has been redirected, you can begin publishing new episodes directly through Blubrry Publisher.
Podcast directories and apps that previously followed your old RSS feed should begin using your new Blubrry feed automatically.
Before canceling your previous hosting service, we recommend:
- Confirming that your RSS feed redirect is working.
- Checking that your existing episodes are available through Blubrry.
- Publishing a new episode and confirming that it appears in your podcast directories.
- Verifying with your previous hosting provider that your RSS feed redirect will remain active after cancellation.
Once everything is working correctly, you're ready to manage and publish your podcast entirely through Blubrry Publisher.
Welcome to Blubrry!
